When the Nativity Play meets Polling Day
If the EU offers a Brexit extension to the UK that runs, as anticipated, until the end of January, the expectation is that the Prime Minister will call a snap election.
That would mean a general election in the depths of mid-winter - when the days are at their shortest, the nights are drawing in, and Christmas approaches.
It could mean schools being asked to close and turn into polling stations, just as the all important nativity season gets underway. The writer Frank Cottrell-Boyce imagines, for the World at One, what that might look like.
