Elaine Selley: 'We knew he was doing the right thing for him'
In September 2019, Perthshire teacher Richard Selley, who had battled motor neurone disease for five years, ended his life at the Dignitas clinic in Switzerland.
We featured his story on The Nine at the time. Right up until his death, Richard campaigned for euthanasia laws to be introduced in Scotland. Opponents say that such laws would be βdangerousβ and open to abuse.
Richardβs wife Elaine travelled with him to the clinic in Zurich. In her first interview since returning to Scotland, sheβs described parts of that journey as βawfulβ, but says itβs strengthened her resolve to continue Richardβs campaign. The Nine's Fiona Stalker reports.
