Originally intended to form the middle movement of a trilogy of overtures named ‘Nature, Life and Love’, the Carnival Overture displays all the syncopated rhythms of his native Bohemia which Dvořák was famous for incorporating into his music. In the syncopated figurations written for the woodwind section, Dvorak brings the hustle and bustle of street life to listeners' ears with great effect.
