Saving lives from pesticide poisoning
In the 1980s and 90s, Sri Lanka had one of the highest suicide rates in the world and pesticide poisoning accounted for two-thirds of those deaths. They banned the most dangerous products and the number of people consuming pesticide fell. The World Health Organisation now want other countries to follow their example.
