Malawi is home to an estimated 10,000 people with albinism 鈥� a condition that affects the production of the pigment that gives skin, hair and eyes their colour.

They are frequently abducted, murdered or mutilated in the country because of a widely held belief that their body parts can bring wealth or good luck.

Lazarus Chigwandali, a Malawian musician born with albinism, is one of the rising voices trying to change people鈥檚 attitude towards the genetic condition.

鈥淚n the past, people used to call us different names, but things are changing because of what鈥檚 happening now and what we鈥檙e doing to raise awareness through music,鈥� he told 麻豆约拍 Newsday.
