Rapper Khaligraph Jones says he is paid 'peanuts' for his music
The hashtag #MCSK is trending in Kenya after rapper Khaligraph Jones complained about the royalties he had received from the Music Copyright Society of Kenya. He said he had only been paid $25 by MCSK.
The MCSK says the $25 was for two monthsβ royalties shared out equally between its nearly 14,000 members from money collected for music played in public places.
Many other musicians in Kenya have agreed with him, saying they also feel underpaid. Khaligraph Jones says the amount he receives is βpeanutsβ.
