Letitia finds out if technology and social media is ruining our lives?

We reportedly spend an average of two hours every day sharing, liking and tweeting. But what we consume and how we share, for some, is having a detrimental impact to their mental health. From MPs and celebrities to your boss at work, it seems most of us are on some sort of social platform.

There is nothing we millennials like more than a selfie, after all we invented the thing! But a 2016 study showed that women’s self-esteem was negatively impacted comparing their selfies to those of other women.But it’s not just our self-esteem that could be in the line of fire, you may have wondered what social media is doing to our relationships. Another study published in 2016 revealed that the more selfies that were posted on platforms like Instagram, the more likely relationship conflicts and jealousy were.
But don’t be too quick to shun your Socials; platforms like Twitter have been a force for good, with movements like #BlackLivesMatter and #MeToo giving a voice to those who otherwise may not have had a platform.
