Would we benefit from a digital detox?

We ask whether technology has become too dominant a force in our lives.

We ask whether technology has become too dominant a force in our lives. Jodi Whelen owns the August First Cafe and bakery in Vermont, where there is no wifi and computers are banned. She tells us it was the best thing she's ever done for her business. Entrepreneur Sanoussi Keita in Monrovia, Liberia, says people there are keen to get more technology in their lives. And Mother Hildegarde, secretary general of the Tyburn Convent in London explains that technology is creeping in to their setting, despite efforts to keep it out. Also in the programme, India has stripped Kashmir of its special status, meaning the state in the north of the country loses its right to make its own laws and decide who can settle in the region. Manjeet Kripalani is founder of Gateway House, the Indian Council on Foreign Relations in Mumbai, and discusses the implications. Plus, our regular workplace commentator Pilita Clarke considers what the state of an office's toilets tells us about the company they belong to.
