US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will travel to Shanghai to continue trade talks with China in an effort to end the so-called β€œtrade war” between the two countries. Stefan Legge of the University of Saint Gallen in Switzerland and Anahita Thoms, from the law firm and advisory group Baker McKenzie weigh in on how the trade war has already hit the global economy, and how much longer it’s likely to go on.

Budget airline Ryanair will unveil its financial performance on Monday, amid concerns over the stalled delivery of a fleet of Boeing 737 Max, which have been grounded after two deadly crashes. Victoria Moores is European Editor at Air Transport World, and explains what else is affecting Ryanair’s performance.

A planned development in the Paris suburb of Gonesse is attracting fierce protests. The project, EuropaCity, which will include a theme park as well as retail and cultural attractions, is expected to open in 2027, costing around $3bn. The developers say the project will revitalise the area and bring new jobs, but protesters say it will simply exploit Gonesse and not deliver any benefit in a city already saturated with cultural attractions. We hear from two sides of the argument.

And as the US Federal Reserve gears up to cut interest rates for the first time since the financial crisis, Heather Long of the Washington Post joins to discuss the fine line the Fed has to walk between the president and the financial markets.
