Warren: Fury's next fight 'definitely' in America vs. top 10-ranked opponent
Tyson Fury's promoter Frank Warren confirms the location of his next fight
Tyson Fury's promoter Frank Warren says negotiations are ongoing for Fury's next fight after the proposed rematch with Deontay Wilder fell through.
Fury recently signed a promotional contract in America with Top Rank and their broadcast partner ESPN+. Warren confirmed the deal means 'most' of Fury's fights going forward will be held in the USA, although there is 'an opportunity' for fights in the UK.
"This thing came out of the blue" Warren told 5 live Sport's boxing correspondent Mike Costello. "This was a great opportunity for him, a great financial package, great exposure and the biggest network in the States is now behind him.
"If the rematch had taken place before, it would have been on a PBC [Premier Boxing Champions] card again. Now we're in a position where Top Rank, ourselves, ESPN, BT, can work together for the rematch to take place on an ESPN show."
Fury, Wilder and Anthony Joshua now have deals with five different broadcasters in the UK and USA. However, Warren still thinks the fights between the three will happen.
"I think the public will call for them and the TV companies will have to make sure they happen, and it's up to everyone to work together to make sure they happen.
"I know Tyson wants the fight to happen - but the first fight won't be against Deontay Wilder. The objective is to get him some exposure on the ESPN platform, and by doing that they feel that when and if the fight is made with Deontay, it will generate more income because it will be on a much bigger platform than Showtime."
