β€˜I was diagnosed with cervical cancer after delaying smear test’

The number of women of all ages having smear tests in the UK is at its lowest levels for 20 years, according to the charity Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust.
It found that almost one in three women failed to have a test within the recommended time frame, with particular concerns in the 25-34 age category.

Mandy Parker was diagnosed with stage 1B cervical cancer at the age of 44, after putting off going for her smear test.

She told Radio 5 Live’s Tony Livesey it was because one of her children became unwell. She’s now urging women not to miss their screenings: β€œI wouldn’t want anyone to go through what I did”.
