'I escaped from Saudi Arabia'
Saudi Arabia has some of the toughest laws in the world on women's rights, and as a result, some women are seeking to leave. 24-year-old Salwa ran away with her 19-year-old sister eight months ago. She now lives in Montreal. Guardianship laws in the Kingdom mean women cannot leave the country without permission from their father, brother, son or guardian. So, in order to escape, Salwa had to steal her passport from her family and flee at night. She told Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ OS she’s now free to live how she wants.
