What's behind Tintin's enduring appeal?
Sporting a blond quiff with his trusty dog Snowy at his side, Tintin was drawn to life by the Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi, who wrote under the pen name HergΓ©. The cub reporter went on to become one of the most popular European comic book heroes of the 20th century.
To mark Tintin's 90th birthday, it's been announced that a new live-action film is in development. Peter Jackson of Lord of the Rings fame and Steven Spielberg are both attached to the project.
Simon Doyle is a Scottish graphic artist who describes himself as a Tintinologist. He runs a website about the boy wonder and explains what is behind Tintin's enduring appeal.
