Trade Officials Meet In Beijing To End Dispute

The trade dispute between China and the United States threatens the global economy.

The trade dispute between China and the United States is threatening to undermine the global economy. But on Monday a team of American trade officials are meeting their Chinese counterparts in Beijing. They will aim to broker a deal to end the cycle of tariffs and counter-tariffs on each other's exports. Freya Beamish, the chief Asia Economist at Pantheon Macro, describes the impact the trade war has had so far on China’s economy.

Then, the independent economist Michael Hughes gives his view on a number of international economic indicators due out this week which could signal a rocky 2019 for markets.
