Opportunities

Luisa Omielan explores some of the most important things relevant to young people today. In this episode she finds out why some people have more opportunities in life.

Luisa Omielan wants to find out why some people have more opportunities than others. Britain is still one of the worst countries in the world at enabling people to break free from a poor background. Luisa explores the type of barriers that might hold some people back and lead to others getting the best jobs. Education, family background and where you live could all be factors in whether you succeed in life. Luisa wonders how people can overcome these barriers and make the best of themselves.

Luisa hooks up with a group of girlfriends on a night out in Cardiff and breaks down their earnings over shots, she goes to an Oxford Union debate to meet the politicians of the future and visits Blackpool to hang out with a young entrepreneur, Jake, whose business is thriving even though there are fewer opportunities in the area.
