Reading FC: Academy Manager Roddy on looking for the next star
Ged Roddy talks in depth about his role at the club, and nurturing the next generation.
The Reading FC Academy Manager suggests there is one key thing he looks for in any aspiring footballer.
"Character," Roddy told Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Berkshire's Tim Dellor. "We have to recruit based upon character.
"If we get good characters, people that understand the culture of the club, and the way we want to play at Reading, then we've got a chance."
And Roddy explains that there is a specific type of pressure put on the academy.
"[Reading's] perfectly aligned, it's a club that's always developed players, it's a club that's got outstandingly talented young players in its academy coming through.
"Here you really have got a genuine opportunity to take them from the age of eight all the way through to the first team and see them flourish."
