Gandhi’s granddaughter on the need to love and be loved

Tara Gandhi explains the power of the Hindu festival, Raksha Bandhan. Sisters tie sacred rakhi threads onto their brothers’ wrists to symbolise the loving bond between them.

In big cities today, Tara says, it’s easy to forget the humanity of the people around you. For her, nothing compares to reaching out to another person with your heart, and having them reach back to you. β€œWhy is human society still existing?” she asks. β€œIt is because of these bonds.”

And, Tara admits that if she sees a man on Raksha Bandhan without the rakhi threads on his wrist, she wants to stop the car and tie one to him!
