Gandhiβs granddaughter on the need to love and be loved
Tara Gandhi explains the power of the Hindu festival, Raksha Bandhan. Sisters tie sacred rakhi threads onto their brothersβ wrists to symbolise the loving bond between them.
In big cities today, Tara says, itβs easy to forget the humanity of the people around you. For her, nothing compares to reaching out to another person with your heart, and having them reach back to you. βWhy is human society still existing?β she asks. βIt is because of these bonds.β
And, Tara admits that if she sees a man on Raksha Bandhan without the rakhi threads on his wrist, she wants to stop the car and tie one to him!
