Jill Archer actor reveals failing eyesight
Patricia Greene, who plays Jill Archer in the Radio 4 soap, talks about her sight loss
Fading eyesight has hit the longest-serving actor in The Archers, making it hard for her to read the scripts.
Patricia Greene, who plays Jill Archer, has told Radio 4's Broadcasting House that she must memorise her lines because macular degeneration makes it impossible to read normal print.
She has a special large-font version of the words, but says it will not stop her working.
More information about macular degeneration and support around the issues raised in this interview is available from the following organisations:
The Macular Society offers support and information to anyone affected by macular conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, including a network of local groups.
