Omagh bombing 20th anniversary: ‘I can now draw a line in the sand’

It’s been twenty years since 29 people and two unborn children were killed when a bomb exploded by shops in the centre of Omagh. It was the single greatest loss of life in the Troubles.

Several hundred people gathered at a memorial service to remember the victims.

Kevin Skelton lost his wife Philomena in the bombing. He says he can now ‘draw a line the sand’ following the service.

He told Radio 5 Live’s Sarah Brett: “There’ll be no more commemorations for me or my family. The dead can look after themselves. Not in a callous way or anything, they’re past our help.â€
