'If there are women in your life that you care about, you should know about this'
Nihal Arthanayake says men need to know about the menopause just as much as women do.
ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 5 Liveβs Nihal Arthanayake recently hosted a discussion about the menopause with Meg Mathews. Meg wanted to explore why thereβs still a stigma around it and why people arenβt talking more openly about it.
Nihal said itβs important for men to get involved in the discussion too: βWe need to have a conversation about the menopause. And look, Iβm a 46-year-old guy and I want to talk about it and thereβs no reason why anyone else shouldnβt want to talk about it.
βAt some point my wife is going to go through this, and I want to know what questions to ask. I want to know how to make her feel better, if indeed that is possible. I want to know that the things that are happening to her, that she may not be able to articulate, we can at least have a conversation and she understands sheβs not going to be going through it on her own. If youβre a husband and thereβs a woman in your life that you care about a lot, perhaps you should as well.β
