Public sector pay rise is a "PR exercise"

A million public sector workers are in line for their biggest pay rise in almost a decade - thanks to the "hard work of the British people".

The increases range from two per cent to 3.5 per cent and will apply to members of the armed forces, prison officers, teachers, police officers and NHS staff.

But Labour said public sector workers were being offered a "real term pay cut".
