ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Minute: On Mesut Ozil quitting Germany
German 2014 World Cup winner Mesut Ozil has spectacularly quit the national team in a long Twitter post, claiming he has faced racism and disrespect from Germany's football authorities. The DfB, Germany's national football association, says it βemphatically rejectsβ¦ being linked to racismβ.
Ozil has been heavily criticised in Germany in the wake of the defending champions' disastrous title defence in Russia. German football expert Raphael Honigstein says the Arsenal player has been singled out.
