Maurice Ravel: Mother Goose (ballet) (Prom 48)
Inspired by the fairy tales of Charles Perrault, 'Ma mere l'oye' began life as an amusement at the piano and developed into an orchestral ballet score. The first performance of the complete ballet was given in Paris in 1912.
