Edvard Grieg: Piano Concerto in A minor (Prom 42)

Composed in 1868, this was Grieg's only concerto, the music shows the influence of Robert Schumann and is imbued with musical elements from Norwegian folklore.

Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili – a former Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 3 New Generation Artist – performs one of the great Romantic piano concertos, beloved for its generous melodies and dramatic gestures. Composed in 1868, this was Grieg's only concerto, but became one of the world's most popular piano concertos. The music shows the influence of Robert Schumann and is imbued with musical elements from Norwegian folklore.
