Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Minute: On Ethiopia and Eritrea ending their war

Following a landmark meeting in Asmara, the leaders of Eritrea and Ethiopia have signed an official declaration ending the state of war between their two countries. The peace deal which ended the 1998-1999 border conflict in which 70,000 people were killed was never properly implemented. The two governments say they’ll re-establish trade and diplomatic ties, giving many in Eritrea, Ethiopia and their respective diasporas hope that a new era is emerging.
