"Gershwinicity is a fantasia based on five Gershwin songs. Strong jazz elements infuse the music and the solo writing has an improvisatory quality. It is a ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ commission and a world premiere.

The piece opens with β€˜Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off’, a lively swing number for the trumpet soloist. This is interrupted by a brief and noisy street scene that sets the mood for β€˜A Foggy Day in London Town’, a sassy blues for euphonium. The alto saxophone picks up the pace with a jazzfunk style version of β€˜Fascinating Rhythm’. A sudden change of mood introduces β€˜Embraceable You’ for clarinet, one of the classic Gershwin love songs."
