Edward Elgar: Cello Concerto in E minor (Prom 41)

Elgar’s elegaic Cello Concerto, composed in the wake of the First World War. The concerto was written during the summer of 1919 in Sussex, where during previous years Elgar had heard the sound of the artillery of World War I from across the Channel at night.
