On April the 22nd 1969, Robin Knox Johnston sail into Falmouth. To mark the 50th anniversary, Neil Sackley has been talking to Sir Robin for this special programme.
On April the 22nd 1969, Robin Knox Johnston sail into Falmouth.
Having spent 312 days at sea, he had sailed single handed, non stop around the world. The first person to achieve such a feat.
On his epic voyage he feared attack by sharks, faced mountainous seas in the southern ocean, was missing for almost 4 months and had appendicitis. Against all odds, he returned to Falmouth.
To mark the 50th anniversary, Neil Sackley has been talking to Sir Robin about his epic voyage, and the 1967 event that inspired him to do it.
