'...he just dragged you into the broadcast...' - a look at the legacy of Test Match Special's John Arlott.
For many, he was simply THE voice of cricket.
Before Aggers, before Blowers, before Johnners, there was John Arlott - who commentated on the sport for more than three decades.
Between 1946 and 1980, his low, Hampshire burr described many of the biggest moments in the sport. After that, he retired to Alderney, where he lived until his death in 1991.
So, with the cricket season in full swing, we thought now was the perfect time to look back at Arlott's legacy.
Our Sport Producer Jack Murley has been mulling it over in the company of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's cricket correspondent Jonathan Agnew.
