Ipek Gorgun on the many different sounds of Istanbul
On this Sound of the Week, Turkish electronic composer and sound artist Ipek Gorgun talks about the various sounds of two different corners of Istanbul. One is awash with traffic noise and has been the scene of unrest in the past, the other a relatively calm area where the most dominant sound is that of the northern winds battering against windows. Ipek Gorgun explains how these sharp contrasts have inspired her work.
This Sound of the Week first appeared on Hear & Now on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 3 on Saturday 19th May 2018.
