Girl has leg reattached backwards to help her dance again

7-year-old Amelia Eldred was diagnosed with bone cancer in her left leg and needed surgery to amputate the limb.

Doctors at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham reattached the lower part of her leg backwards to allow the ankle joint to work as a knee, in a rare procedure called rotationplasty.

It’ll allow her to have a prosthetic limb fitted and one day be able to continue her favourite hobby, dancing.

Amelia says looking at her foot the wrong way round was β€œstrange at first” but now they’re β€œbest buddies”.
