Childhood dreams of exploring the universe
Pioneering astronaut Dr Mae Jemison grew up in Chicago and as a child she wanted to explore the universe and says she always assumed she would go into space. Dr Jemison realised that dream when she joined the crew of the Endeavour shuttle mission in 1992 and became the first woman of colour to go into space.
