A Foreign Office minister has said that getting personal "is not helpful at all" after Boris Johnson described Jeremy Corbyn as "the Kremlin's useful idiot". The Foreign Secretary had criticised the Labour leader for his response to the Salisbury nerve agent attack. However, Mark Field, who has served in Mr Johnson's ministerial team since June 2017, suggested that he would personally have taken a different approach. He told The Westminster Hour: "The rules of ordinary political gravity don't apply to Boris Johnson, he gets away with his style. I've known Boris for 30 years, we were at university together and I get on very well with him personally and work very well with him. Despite the words, I would always try and play the ball and not the man when it comes to these things, I think to get personal about it is not helpful at all."
