Paralysed man βleft waitingβ for adapted home
Paul Perry has been living in a hospital for people with brain injuries for over a year and a half, but heβs desperate to get a place of his own.
He joined the council waiting list in December 2016, but he is yet to be housed in a suitable property. βI was hoping I was only going to come here for a few monthsβ¦ itβs just not good enoughβ.
Paul used be very active and worked as a security guard, but following a motorbike accident, he was left paralysed from the neck down.
He told 5 live Investigates that to not be offered a suitable property is βoutrageousβ.
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council told us βthere is a shortage of social housingβ and adapted homes are available βeven less frequentlyβ. They say they will keep him better informed in the future.
