Long Interview - Connie Field
The Oscars speeches were dominated by calls for greater equality and diversity in both the production of movies and the way Hollywood presents its vision of the world.
In this weekβs Long Interview, ahead of Sundayβs award ceremony, Bill Whiteford spoke to the film-maker and feminist Connie Field, who has been twice-nominated twice for an Oscar and is a member of the academy, about the awards and her experience working in the industry.
Her own work is in documentaries, including the "Have you heard from Johannesburg" series of films, and her first feature, "The life and times of Rosie the Riveterβ, which looked at the experience of American women who went to work during World War II to do "men's jobsβ, the transformational effect it had on their lives and how it led to the womenβs movement 30 years later.
