Vocational training, Malawi's alternative to university education

Between 80,000 to 120,000 young people leave secondary schools each year in Malawi. Not all of them can get into university. That's why a network of Technical Colleges and Community Development Centres train 10,000 young people each year in skills like plumbing, construction, textiles and carpentry to give them a practical start. The idea is also to turn them into young entrepreneurs. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Newsday's Alan Kasujja has been to Lilongwe Technical College to find out more.
