Whilst in session, Hookworms had a frank and open discussion with Lauren about the issues that influence their work, referring to mental health and body image as common references for the album's tracks. Lead singer, Matt Johnson, also talked about how he has been dealing with his father, who suffers from Alzheimers, and he hopes to reach out to people who have loved ones with the illness.

Johnson said 'These are conversations I wanted to have' and that he would like to generate and encourage conversation about these issues going forward on a wider scale.
