Army Vet: 'Rugby Saved My Life'

Craig Monaghan fought in some of the bloodiest battles of the Afghanistan conflict. He lost 10 colleagues in battle and was wounded himself.

After leaving the Army Craig tried to kill himself three times. He says playing rugby saved his life.

He told Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 5 live: "I fought the enemy and that was fine. But then I was fighting myself."

"You get me on a rugby pitch and that sparkle in my eye, that passion, comes back to me for that 80 minutes."

He now runs the Forces Project at Sale Sharks Rugby Union Club which helps other veterans who might be struggling.
