Long Interview: Sarah Ann Oates

It's a year since President Trump was inaugurated, one characterised by turbulence and constant headlines. Among other things, the twelve months has given the media time to reassess its own performance. Did it cover the election properly? And why does the electorate ignore the scandals?

In this week’s Long Interview, Bill Whiteford speaks to Professor Sarah Oates of the Phillip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, who has looked at the impact of fake news, Russian involvement and social media, about how the media has adapted, if at all, to the new, drastically altered political landscape.
