Tonga rugby star desperate for dialysis

Romania has been home for the Tonga Rugby international Sione Vaiomounga for three years.

Vaiomounga, who played for Tonga at the 2011 World Cup, signed a contract with the Romanian club Baia Mare in 2014.

After suffering kidney failure, Sione now needs regular dialysis treatment.

With no dialysis machines in his native Tonga, he's described a return home as a death sentence.

Money to help them has been raised by the Pacific Rugby Players' Welfare organisation, but with his visa due to expire shortly, time is running out.

Dan Leo, former Samoa international and founder of the Pacific Rugby Players' Welfare union, says Sione would most likely be dead had he been in Tonga when his kidneys failed.
