Meet the real news-chasing 'Nightcrawler'
LA news-chaser Austin Raishbrook rescued a passenger from a burning car - but not before he filmed the crash on his television camera for television news.
Raishbrook was the inspiration behind Jake Gyllenhaal's character in the film 'Nightcrawler', and features in the Netflix series 'Shot In The Dark'.
He told 5 live's Stephen Nolan there was "no way" he had trained his camera on the car, which had broken down on the fast lane of the freeway, in the hope it would crash.
"It was never about the shot at that point," he said. "In this instance, had it not crashed, I would have still fed that to the stations."
