Constructing the Empire State building
The iconic New York building rose at the rate of a storey a day. When it was completed in 1931 it was the tallest building in the world. Carol Willis of the Skyscraper Museum in New York explains why the Empire State Building was such an important addition to the Manhattan skyline.
