A British man described the moment he was "followed" by a four metre tiger shark for 15 minutes after being separated from his boat off the coast of western Australia.

John Craig from Sunderland had been spear-fishing when he surfaced to find he could not see his boat. He began to shout and splash to see if he could attract attention. His actions had attracted a tiger shark.

John told 5 live Breakfast: "I saw this huge four metre tiger shark within arms reach of me."

"The boat was long gone by this stage and I thought, 'this is it.'" he said.
