Battle for Raqqa: the human cost
The so-called Islamic State is losing its grip on the Syrian city of Raqqa, which the militants proclaimed as their capital. However, the battle to retake the city has come at a huge price for civilians. Was this always an inevitability? Newshour spoke to two expert analysts: Kinda Haddad, a Syria researcher at Airwars, which is a journalist-led project monitoring the fight against IS, and Col Richard Kemp, a British defence commentator who fought in Afghanistan and Iraq.
