"If a club signs Kaepernick the underbelly of America would revolt"
Osi Umenyiora on the controversial NFL star who refuses to stand for the American national anthem in a protest against racism in the States.
The quarterback finds himself without a club for the start of the season and according to Youmenyoura who won the Super Bowl twice, there is a clear reason for that. "I think that is 100% about him protesting, thereβs just no way around that. The teams say to themselves βok, if we bring this guy on our team, our fan base - the underbelly of America - is going to revolt, and they might lose moneyβ."
But the former Giants and Falcons player is confident that the NFL is "not racist" and is full of admiration for Kaepernick's stance, adding: "We all kept quiet because we were afraid to lose the exact same thing that heβs lost. He sacrificed that. Would he be on a team if he didnβt do that? Absolutely!"
