Norman Maclean
The comedian and musician Norman Maclean died last week aged 80. A Gaelic literary polymath, Maclean was the only person to have won both Bardic Crown and Gold Medal at the same Royal National MΓ²d, but his ability as a comic saw him dubbed the βGaelic Billy Connollyβ.
His life was blighted by alcoholism, but in recent years he saw a revival in his fortunes, taking the starring role in a full-length feature film, Blackbird, and being the subject of an award-winning documentary, Tormod. Bill Whiteford and Isabel Fraser spoke to Robbie Fraser, the director of the documentary, about Normanβs life.
