Former footballer Andy Townsend believes Arsenal are currently "in a mess".

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez remains at the club after he was linked with a move to Manchester City.

Townsend said: "They're probably the one club I look at the moment that are in...they're in a mess, I think.

"I genuinely think they're a bit all over the place.

"I think the whole situation with Arsene's (Wenger) personal contract scenario has had a big effect on a lot of their players."

Manchester City's bid to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez ended after the Gunners failed to secure a replacement.
