Garance Reus-Deelder is Managing Director of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. She describes the moment when an elderly woman came forward with a tin of marbles 70 years after Anne had given it to her for safekeeping. The next part of the story is well-known: Anne and her family went into hiding for just over two years during World War II, before being discovered and sent to concentration camps. Anne died at the age of 15 - but her diary subsequently became one of the most famous testimonies of Nazi persecution.
