Grace 'had no idea' he was about to set major record
South Africa's Branden Grace admits he 'had no idea' he was about to become the first man to score 62 in a major.
He holed eight birdies in a bogey-free third round of The Open at Royal Birkdale to beat the previous best of 63.
Grace said: "Obviously we know what the score is but I had no idea I was about to shoot the lowest round ever in the history of majors.
"Yes, it sounds a bit stupid but honestly I didn't. I was just so in the zone,"
South Korea's Hyo-Joo Kim holds the record for the lowest round in any major with 61 at the women's Evian Championship in 2014.
