Alan Hollinghurst on Ronald Firbank's novel

Alan champions Ronald Firbank's humorous novel for our Queer Icons series.

Ronald Firbank (1886-1926) wrote The Flower Beneath the Foot in 1923. It's set in the fictional kingdom of Pisuerga on the eve of a royal wedding.

Alan Hollinghurst's novels include The Swimming Pool Library, The Stranger's Child and The Line of Beauty, which won the Booker Prize.
